Shed Skin Stuck in Tail Stump

A week or so ago my gecko dropped her tail, soon after she shed her skin. As you can see in the attached picture, there is some skin stuck in the stump where her tail is regenerating. I'm going out of town very soon (leaving gecko in the care of an experienced pet owner who has had leos before and knows how take care of them) but I'm worried about this. The regenerating area around where the shed is stuck has turned a darker color. I have tried giving her a bath in warm water and a repti-shedding aid, but I want to be extra careful with "pulling off" the shed as I don't want to injure her or stunt her tail regrowth. Any advice or tips? Should I just leave it alone?

I think it's likely that as the tail regenerates the shed will drop off. It wouldn't hurt to give her short baths for the next few days to see if you can soften up that area and maybe it will just come off.
