Hello fellow lizard lovers!!
My gecko of almost 6 years, Da Vinci, has been having some issues with his mouth. I'm not 100% sure if it's mouth rot or just him needing a dental cleaning, but whatever it is has caused him to stop eating for several weeks. I did bring him into the vet, got him Baytril/enrofloxacin to treat potential mouth rot, with no results. It has been a few weeks si ce he has been off the Baytril, and although he shows interest in food, tends to lose interest quickly. All his behaviors are the same as normal, as far as molting, hiding, pooping, and being out and about during the night. He has almost completely stopped eating his shed when he gets go that point, and so I need to give him a bath to help him get the rest off. The inside of his mouth looks normal colored besides where his 'tooth' line is. It seems to have almost a calcium-like buildup on it that prevents his mouth from closing completely. I will post pics to show more of what I mean. I have tried to get a good look in his mouth, but he seems to be sensitive about it and turns away whenever I try to get him to open wide. I've done lots of googling about what I think he has, and all signs seem to point to mouth rot, so I guess I want a second opinion before I go to see a specialist vet again. I would also love suggestions to take care of his mouth/clean it up without possibly having to pay a ton for a vet to do it (only if it's a simple job though, I am definitely not a vet in any way). Also, MBD has already been ruled out by the vet I saw. Thanks in advance!!!!!
