Beginner mealworm confusion

I'm getting a leopard gecko for the first time and I was planning on feeding it just mealworms and waxworms and the worm variety of food. I've read this isn't ideal for the gecko because they also should eat crickets, but I can't keep crickets. I was originally planning on getting a frog but my parents (i'm 15) wouldn't let me because they were freaked out by the idea of keeping live crickets. They settled for a gecko when they learned it didn't just eat crickets, but i still can't have any live crickets in the house.
I also heard I could use roaches as an alternative, and that they were easier to keep than crickets, but my mom has an intense fear of roaches so I can't do that either.
What should i do? Is it ok to feed my gecko just the worms? Is there some other food I can give it besides crickets or roaches that still adds variety to its diet?

Welcome to Geckos Unlimited, coffeebunny! You've come to the right place. Leos do need live prey.

A leo can eat mainly mealworms and still be healthy. Waxworms are extremely fatty, but do contain some vitamin C. Limit a couple waxworms to once a MONTH.

Here's a healthy diet/bedding for mealworms/superworms and bugs too! After you buy mealworms, replace the bedding they're sold in with already ground Professional Reptiles' Pro Gutload (1-775-359-1085). Keep your mealworms at room temperature & in 6 quart plastic Sterilite tubs with bedding & ventilation, NOT in the refrigerator.
Hornworms add variety & much calcium to a leo's diet! Let hornworms eat the special diet that comes with them. Hornworms are sold at PetCo in ~4 hornworms to a pack. Buy really small ones, because hornworms mushroom in size overnight.

Does this make sense?
