Fat tailed gecko active?

I just recently got an African Fat-tailed Gecko last month (he was already over a year old), and was wondering how active he should be. He is only ever "out" usually around 9pm to 6 am, and even then, he is usually just in some other hide, aside from the humid one, which he is otherwise in ALL the time. Other than this, he doesn't seem stressed, although he does still run from my hand when I try to pick him up. Anyway, I just want to make sure that he is not too stressed, or I am doing something wrong with his enclosure.

I have kept them in the past and found them generally not that active.
