My Scooby's acting a little odd...

I hope you read this, Elizabeth.

I think it was at the tail of last summer, Scooby's old UTH pad died. He has a 20 gallon long tank, and for years I had been using a small 8" x 10" UTH pad under his warm hide and most of his moist hide. When that old pad died, I bought him a larger pad (that you had actually suggested to me years back). I don't know the exact measurements of it, but offhand it's like 11" x 17" (???). Everything was normal all winter long after I put the new pad on the tank. Scooby loved the new larger pad and could sprawl on the floor in more areas than before.

So now that summer has rolled in, for the last two weeks, I keep finding him in the cool hide, sleeping during the day. At night, he's been laying out on the edge of the warm area of the floor. The ambient temp of his bedroom is fine. When spring arrived, I set the temp on his UTH thermostat to 90° (it was 92° throughout the winter), and have checked his tile floor with a point-and-click thermometer and it is 90° at its peak temp. The temp on the floor of his moist hide is 87°-88°. I just think it's odd that he's been recently sleeping in the cool hide all day. The other day, I lifted up the cool hide and picked him up and he felt so cool. I handled him for awhile to warm him up and he seemed okay. He doesn't seem ill, but his new behavior with the hides is kinda odd. The only thing that's changed is this is the first summer with the larger UTH.

What do you think?

My situation may be different from yours because I don't have AC in my house, but many of my leopard geckos are spending the days on the cool side right now.

It was 97° F outside today. We have the AC set on 75°-76°. Scooby is in his own room, which is our extra bedroom. Tonight, I opened the ceiling vent up a bit more to allow a bit more AC to come into his room. His bedroom is right next to mine (the doors are literally side-by-side) and the door to his bedroom stays open constantly to allow air into his room also.

Greetings, GeckoFanboy!
It's good to hear from you. :)

How old is Scooby?
What do you feed him? What do you feed his bugs & worms?
Otherwise has he slowed down?
How does his belly look?
Does he poop on a regular schedule with brown feces & white urates?

Has Scooby ever visited an Exotics Vet?

• Scooby just turned 7 in May.
• He eats crickets and dubias, and I feed them the recommended fruits and veggies, and dust them appropriately.
• I don't know if I can say he's "slowed down". He's still as active and energetic as ever.
• He's always been large. Last time he saw an exotic vet they thought he was a "giant" but he's not.
• His poop looks normal, I guess, it's been solid, but I've noticed a bit more water around the solid the last couple of poops. I notice when I feed him large dubias, he doesn't poop as quickly as when he eats crickets. It seems dubias take longer to digest.

Hi GeckoFanboy ~
I don't see anything amiss with Scooby or his care.
My best advice is to Carry On with Scooby's TLC.
You know where to find me. :D
