YES I do!

Many bugs & worms love fresh carrots!
Fresh carrots contain lots of beta carotene.
Just wash carrots, slice them, & serve them to bugs & worms on a jar lid.
Bugs & worms should gobble carrots & orange sweet potatoes right up!

yes yes, it's always there now!! It comes out just in the late afternoon to take a walk on the cold side to drink, then it goes to sleep under a rock in the center of the enclosure and then around 7-7:30 pm it goes back to the warm dry hide.. then in the evening around 8 pm it looks out of the warm hide and watches us until we feed it

How happy I am that Foxy got a NEW warm dry hide!
Thanks for sharing the difference it 's making in her d-a-i -l-y life.
More & more you're figuring out Foxy's life in captivity.

Hello Elizabeth, how are you?
Foxy now stay all day, and night too, in the warm dry hide. She is active only at the feeding time when I give her insects with tweezers and I move it in the enclosure to stimulate foxy and simulate hunt.
Saturday she complete another shed (and it was the only time that i saw her go out of the warm hide in the last week) but, after a record of two poop in 3 days now are 12 days without poop. I'm worried.

I'm sorry for taking so long to reply.
I'm doing pretty good. But I have too much to do.

Thanks for sharing good news about Foxy & her activity, especially inside her warm dry hide!!!
It is common for leopard geckos to be most active at feeding time.
It sounds like Foxy is comfortable inside her warm dry hide.

Has Foxy pooped since you wrote on Monday -- 2 days ago?
Do you have water available for her 24/7?
Is the humidity higher inside her warm humid hide?

Food dishes:
Most my geckos have Anchor-Hocking brand 8 ounce clear glass dishes for their food. These 8 ounce bowls have vertical sides. Those sides help keep the bugs in. In addition I cut off crickets' back legs at their 'knees', so they can't jump out of the food dishes easily. IF some gecko can't reach the food, then I make a slanted ramp that leads to the rim of this food dish.

8 ounces = 236.6 mls

Yes water is always avaiable..humid hide humidity i don't know but I spray water in the coco fiber inside every other day.

Finally last night she poop..after 13 days!!!from last one..the biggest poop i've seen:).
I don't know if it help but I give her a little olive oil on monday evening and yesterday.

For feeding after reading Esther laue tips, we prefer simulate hunt to feeding in a dish.

YAHOO! 3 cheers for you & Foxy!

I'm certain olive oil helped Foxy poop!
What an excellent remedy!!!

Where did you find Esther Laue's tips?

An update of the vivarium..we try to ricreate natural habitat..we use as substrate desert bedding that is not small sand that can cause impaction. In the picture there is ceramic lamp because the spot is burn and I wait the new one.. with this naturalistic setup Foxy's behavior has completely changed. She move around and climb a lot and she is more open to contact with us.

WOW, Martellone! Foxy is a gorgeous leopard gecko! You guys are VERY lucky to have such a pretty pet!
Many thanks for sharing those 2 pictures which include Foxy!
I'm happy Foxy has benefitted from her re-created environment in many ways!
3 cheers to YOU!

Did you build the ledges on the back wall of Foxy's enclosure?
What is the shiny rectangle taped on the right side wall?
It looks like aluminum foil. (???)

Thank you.
We had a guy build it for us... it's a panel that we fixed to the wall.

Yes is aluminium.. i put it inside in december to help the irradiation of heat in the enclosure

Hello Elizabeth, how are you?
In these months Foxy became adult and she is very healty. Last week we do a check with poop analysis and it's all fine.

This winter, I'd like to brumate her. I've read the advice of Esther Laue and other European breeders. I probably won't be able to get to 12°C, but I can get to 15-16°C. If I remember correctly, I read a post of yours months ago where you said you don't actively brumate lepard gecko. Is that correct? I'd like to brumate her because I've read that it helps maintain optimal health and prolongs life.

Hey there, Martellone & Foxy ~
I'm OKI
I've been reviewing this thread since it's been months since I've checked in.

Foxy looks asleep. She's got sooooo many options for optimal heat: high, low, & in-between places too.
I hope to be back soon regarding your question about brumation.

Yes, during the day she always sleep there. It's her favorite place to rest.

At sunset she wake up an go on warm hide or slate to warm up.

This spring/summer she was very very active, from sunset she was wandering around the enclosure and digging continuously. She walked in my hand every time i opened the enclosure. But now from end of september outside the temperature changed and she move much less.

Ok, i wait your answer.

Thanks

Hi Martellone ~
I'm very sorry, once again, for being so slow to reply to your last message.
Congratulations regarding Foxy's poop analysis! I'm happy ALL is GOOD there!

Regarding 'me & brumating leopard geckos':
A buddy from the school where I worked gave me his pair of leopard geckos. I mated male Rocky with female Cha just once. Rocky + Cha produced 1 hatching who turned out female (+ several infertile eggs). Early on I sold this hatchling leo & did NOT breed them again. I did hear that Cha & Rocky's offspring passed away at 5 years old.

Rocky only lived a couple years with me. Cha, on the contrary, passed away @ 19 years old in July 2024. I was more interested in other genuses of geckos (like Oedura castelnaui - northern velvet geckos). I'm pretty sure I did brumate my Oedura castelnaui several times. I also love Cyrtodactylus zebraicus!

I'm happy you found Esther Laue's advice! Where did Esther share the advice you found on brumation? Somewhere I saw where Esther & I are about the very same age.
