Hemipenis infection?

Hey,

yesterday in the night something woke me up and I heard one of my geckos screaming. It was pretty loud. It's a gecko I put aside in a terrarium without a substrate because he hasn't been properly eating for couple of months now. I found some green poop in his former terrarium as well. He has been in the new terrarium for about a week, ate two superworms and his poop looks normal now.
So anyway, I got up and checked on him and saw him licking his "underside". It looked rather ghastly because it was all open and dark. I checked him again this morning and it doesn't look that bad when closed, just a but darker on the edges. I guess it hurts him considering the screaming.

I just put him on the top of his glass terrarium and checked his junk with a flashlight and it looks totally normal. Maybe it was opened that weird because he was licking it, so he kinda opened it.
I also gave him a warm bath in some water and honey (with extra propolis). I also noticed though, that when he is partially leaning against glass and going by it he drags his right hind leg a bit. Maybe his butt is itchy, I don´t know. Parasites maybe?
I googled some hemipenis infections and it totally doesn´t look nearly as bad.

I don't think the weight loss is significant. If his hemipenis is no longer protruding it's likely not prolapsed. Given the extreme reaction he had I would recommend a vet visit.

Thanks Aliza. I will be giving him the honey baths each evening and I'll schedule a vet appointment next week.

Btw I agree that the weight loss isn't significant, but he should have already been twice as big. I have never seen adult leopard gecko this small.

I found a little pebble (about 5mmx5mm) couple of minutes ago in his enclosure. Seems like he might have passed it. It might have fallen out from the things he has inside, but I doubt it. It would have fallen out already. I actually once even saw him trying to eat a pebble, much bigger than this one. I'd immediately changed the substrate back then.
So, maybe he will get better now, it would explain a lot.

Gave him another bath just now, he seems to enjoy it. Doesn´t fight at all, just stands there with his bum submerged. When I take him out he is just licking the excess water from his face and mouth. I guess he likes the sweetness.

He really seems to be enjoying his honey baths. He is totally relaxed there.
I don't know much about his siblings, I know that he definitely has one, exactly the same morph, super snow raptor as well. I can ask the breeder if he still has him. I don't think this is genetic issue though, yes he seems to be smaller in general, but I think he is this small because he was never a huge eater. Not sure about the expression

Early in the development of the super snows there was a tendency for some of them to be pretty small. I produced one that was definitely smaller than average, though I don't have any weights recorded. I kept her as a pet and ultimately sold her to someone who really wanted her as she was and did not plan to breed her.

I force fed him a roach today. Held him and used my index finger to open his jaw. Then I shoved a freshly shed roach to his mouth. I managed to do this only once though. I will try tomorrow again. Is it possible that he is brumating? He is about 13months old, male.

I´ve been force feeding him for about 2 weeks now. Usually about 1 superworm every 3 days. Today he ate 2 superworms and one mealworm. Also, this morning he pooped. He is making a weird noise when he poops. I think all of them does it, but not as loud as him. I grabbed the fresh poop and ran to herpetologist to have it examined for parasites. My wallet is still crying. I will have the results on friday. Also he gained 1 gram! He is 42 grams now.. pretty bad for an adult but at least he doesn´t weight less this time. For comparison, the 6 month old female I bought recently is already almost 70 grams.

Was his fresh poop dry?

Maybe this male is genetically small?

Let us know what his fecal found.

Well he might be genetically small, but not THAT small. He is a bit on the skinny side as well. I got the results today, he's clean. I think he may be just dormant. But now once I started to force feed him, he is not lethargic anymore. He became much more active and is visibly looking better. Today he got 2 superworms, coated in vitamins (with D3)
Yeah and the poop wasn't dry, it looked totally normal.

Good on "normal" moist poop!

It's best to lightly dust the feeders with supplements, just like "a sprinkling of powdered sugar" on a cake.
