    Grandis help!

I would try and get him onto crickets personally - they're very much the staple of the day gecko diet; all of my phelsuma are on crickets with the occasional mealworm or waxworm - crickets move quicker and will make him hunt for them which is better. ;-) He won't eat every day - I feed pangea...

New Giant Day Gecko Owner - Feeding Questions

OK - I'd say 4-5 days a week is way too much, all of my day geckos get fed twice a week - usually Weds and Sun. I generally chuck in about 20 crickets per gecko and let them 'hunt' for them in amongst the plants - you have to remember in their natural habitat food doesn't appear on a plate -...

    Introducing pea**** day geckos

OK, I'm hoping someone can help out on this one. I've introduced quite a few geckos in the past and only admitted defeat once (with a 1.2 of P grandis), this time I'm trying not to admit defeat...... I have a group of 1.2 of Pea****s - the females both get on absolutely fine with each other...

    How cannibalistic are adult williamsi?

OK - so I got my answer on this today! Poor junior in this case didn't even make it out of its shell before Mum had it for a snack! Fortunately I managed to catch the previous 2 'juniors' before Mum or Dad got to them and there's only 1 viable egg left in the tank, all the rest she's kindly...

    Sphaerodactylus torrei advice

Hi, I've been keeping day geckos for a while up to now all phelsumas and williamsi. I've just acquired (well, I haven't got them yet - I'll get them Saturday) a pair of these spectacular little lizards (well, it's 3 - the previous owner is putting 'junior' in as part of the deal.) I'm setting...

    Plants and UVB only light

Hi, I'm in the process of setting some bioactive tanks up in the garage to grow baby/juvenile gecko offspring on. All tanks will have 10% UVB bulbs on them - is that all that plants need to keep them healthy or do I need to think about putting something like a UVA on there as well? Thanks Nathan

Lined day gecko sex - what does someone else think

Hi, I'm looking to add some more lined day geckos. A store has sent me the attached (photos not brilliant I'm afraid) - I'm swaying towards female, does anyone else have any thoughts? Thanks

    Pea**** day gecko sexing advice

OK, so I've been after a breeding pair of peac0ck day geckos for ages and I thought I'd hit jackpot today when I found a 'breeding trio' at a store 60 or so miles away. The store were keen to move them on so I went and took a look, they seemed happy after observing them for a while in the tank...

    Bugs for Madagascar day gecko

Hi, What else can I feed my day gecko - she's been on a cricket staple with some Morio (super) worms and mealworms. I've been trying to figure out how the worms disappear from the feeding dish so quickly and I got my answer yesterday - the crickets eat them as soon as they go in! (OK - so she's...

Breeding crickets - light requirements advice

Hi, I'm thinking about trying to breed crickets - there's no way I'm going to try it in the house (my wife will divorce me!) so I'm aiming for the garage - only problem, there's no windows/natural light, it's well insulated so warmth isn't an issue - how much light do they need? Will I get...

    How cannibalistic are adult williamsi?

Hi, My female williamsi has laid and egg overnight, which is a good thing :-) Only problem is where she's decided to lay it - there's no way I can move it and no way I can protect it without breaking the egg (she's glued it to the glass and plant tag of a mounted orchid, so if I move the...

Introducing Male to Female P grandis

Hi, I have a pair of grandis (male and a female) and a seperate female (I tried them as a trio but the other female turned on the one who's now seperate) The female on her own is a much more vibrant green and a much higher red so she's the one I really want to breed - any suggestions for how I...

    P grandis pairing for breeding

Hi, I have 3 x P grandis, 1 x proven breeding pair and a third female (which my wife has called Geraldine and we've had quite a while longer) - they're in 2 separate enclosures. They were all together but the one female turned on Geraldine and I had to separate them (I posted about this on this...

    Help sexing williamsi

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me on this - I've had my 3 juvenile williamsi for a couple of months now and I'm pretty sure the other 2 are a male and a female; this one's a bit smaller though and this morning's the first time it's stayed still enough on the glass to get a photo and for me to...

    Morio worm for P grandis

Quick on these (and mealworms for that matter) - I always feed them to my grandis in a dish - one of the Morios got out earlier and is loose somewhere in the enclosure, there's no way I'm trying to get it out as I don't want to dig all the plants up and that will just unnecessarily spook the...

    sub-adult/juvenile williamsi breeding question

Hi, OK, so my 3 juveniles/sub-adults have been in the tank together for about 10 days now - all seem to be getting on fine, all eating well (in fact all the 3 of them seem to do is eat - they never stop eating! Doesn't matter what it is - small crickets, fruit flies, pangea etc it doesn't last...

    Strange black mark on grandis

OK - so I thought this was sorted, but she's now got another mark on her side right next to the first one (which appears to have healed nicely now) - it looks like another cut/wound. :-( it's right next to the original one and there's no other marks on her anywhere - the only 2 things I can...

P grandis different behaviour - suspect breeding.....

Hi, My P grandis have been behaving a bit differently the last few days and I suspect (hope) it's breeding behaviour, I'm hoping someone can confirm.... They've become a lot more active and they're hunting for food a lot more than normal. I've caught the male on top of both females in what...

    williamsi UVB question

Hi, Having kept P grandis for a while I'm diversifying and next weekend 4 williamsi will be arriving - an adult male and 3 juveniles (hoping for a male and 2 females from the juves but I'd settle for 1 female!) :-D. Tanks are set up and running so I can be sure temps, humidity etc is right...

    Strange black mark on grandis

I've managed to get a couple of better pictures this morning, it's more dark green rather than black - I don't know if this changes anything? Thanks Nathan
