Try Loews, Home Depot, Grossman's bargain outlet if there're one near you, or a store that specializes in tile, though that will be more expensive. The slate at the garden stores is generally too big and heavy.
A 20 gallon long is 30x12, so technically, you'd be able to put a 5x2 grid of 6" tiles and it would fit. However, many of the 6" tiles are a shade under 6" to allow for the grout in flooring and the 30x12 measurement is the outside measurement and is further cut down by the silicon sealer around the floor of the tank. It really depends on which 6" tiles you get. Take a tape measure when you get them and get the smallest ones. I can tell you now that quarry tiles are just about exactly 6" and don't really work. The other choice is to get 3 12"x12" tiles. Two of them will go into the tank and you have to get the third cut just about in half (but a little less than half, so measure). Some HOme Depot type places will cut for you. Otherwise, you can get a manual tile cutter for under $20 and cut your own. I just used mine for the first time today and was very pleased.
