Hey everyone, what is the best way to cool your phelsuma that are kept together? I have grandis, standingi, abbotti checkei and comorensis all kept together. No eggs from the big geckso but have gotten eggs from the little ones. Things r starting to cool down here in socal. What is the best way to cool them if they r kept together? Just shorten the light on/off period and less food? Lemme know what you guys do...thanks!!!!!!!!!!

When you say kept together I assume in the same room.
Anyway, mine are in a heated garage. At the end of October I decrease their photoperiod from fourteen hours a day to about nine hours per day gradually by setting the timers to come on half an hour later each week. This takes us to the end of December, then I keep the photoperiod at nine hours until the end of February and then I reverse the process.
Duing the winter cooling the temperatures get down to about 75f in the day and 55f in the night.During the winter I tend to feed less often.
It seems to work for me but I would be interested to hear others comments.

I am willing to bet you do not have them all roaming in a tank as big as a 15x15 Foot room or greater, so they very rarely run in to each other. So it is best for your geckos welfare to separate each species all to their own tanks. Just because they are laying eggs, does not mean they are all happy.

hahaha no they are not all roaming a huge room, but that would be cool. Until i see signs of stress in any of the geckos ie not eating, hiding 24/7, really dark colors, bad shedding then i will seperate my pairs. If they are getting along then i'll keep them together. I know other keepers have different methods and this is mine. Thank you for the replies though

just to clarify, james does NOT keep different species together, he simply keeps animals of the SAME species in pairs. i wanted to clarify that for people who may have misunderstood him.

thanks John for clarifying that, i guess it was a little unclear in my other posts. Yes those four species are each kept in their own tanks in pairs.
