Well, what can I say. It's the week to be born I guess! I just checked the incubator and found two U. sameiti... :D

Are their original tails longer than the nominate species?
I had a female with a regenerated tail...It was real small.

You're telling me!

Joe, I've found sameiti to be a bit bigger than sikorae with particularly longer abdomens. Maybe their original tails are a bit longer than sikorae? It's tough to say...We have a 3.3 WC groups and other than their length, they seem similar, with exception to general color and patterns etc. I've found their color to be more intense, particularly in the greens, than sikorae. Funny enough, two of our males are very brown, even tan..

Thanks everyone!

Yeah, my female had a lot of nice coppers/patinas, longer snout and longer toes. She was half dead and tailless when I bought her. Got her for around $40. I had her for about 3 years before she kicked the bucket. Good animal overall.

Good stuff. I see more and more people referring to U. sikorae sameiti as its own species now. Has this officially been recognized in the literature, or is this just based off the suggestion by Bauer et al?

Either way, good job there. Don't see many mossy leaftails being bred around here.

Hey Mike,

Actually, I'm basing my approach on the Raxworthy article that references sameiti as their own species. Actually, if you look at the sikorae gallery on our site, you will see one pic where I labeled a male as U. sikorae sameiti, not knowing any better. :p

*edit, I just realized I posted the aforementioned image in this thread! Doh!

Cheers!

Luis
