Yay!!!!!!!!!
my Beloved Leopard Gecko Gizmo has had 2 eye infections (not easy) and because of the meds he wouldn't eat ( I almost lost the little guy:() and we finally got rid of it for a while nd then yesterday and for the past month, he has had shed skin/goop/pus in his eye. last night I checked on him and there was a yellow crust layer over the eye. we called the vet and he was nice enough to keep him there all day, test him, and then help him on his break ( he was booked up) and it turns out that the lens over the eye, didn't come outduring his shed and mucus built up in front and behind so that he couldn't see and the mucus and stuff was loaded with bacteria. he took it out and i finally got to go pick him up ( worried all day). no i can finally stop worrying about his eyes!!!!!:yahoo:

Oh my gosh YES! he hated the stuff i had to squirt in his mouth, so much that he actually stopped eating for about a month (not fun!) but we are officially past it (knock on wood) and ready to start new with an every 2 week deep clean because Im not dealing with this again. I'm goin to vary his diet and the vet said that if the gecko will eat it, you can feed them romaine lettuce and carrots to get vitamins, ( he said if that doesn't work than just use reptivite) but he'll eat from my hand because thats what i did when he couldn't see well.

Didn't you previously post asking what can cause eye issues? I don't remember if it was you or someone else having similar issues recently. I asked about stuck shed in the eyes.

Glad it's out and taken care of. :) Now the little guy can go about life. Just remember to keep an eye on him when he sheds now to prevent it from happening again.

I recently got a new humid hide thats made specifically for being humid and is used for snakes egglaying and shedding. its on the hotter side of the tank and it nice and humid. he loves it in there. it looks like a giant boulder and i noticed he had some gunk in the ither eye but after he stayed in there for almost 24 hours it came out.

I was the one asking about the eye stuff and though it was shedding but i couldn't get the stuff out ( now i know that it was because it was behind the stuck lens) and turned almost crusty. he stayed at the vet all day( had me worried sick) and when i came in the vet removed the stuff, and it was filled with bacteria. i got antibacterial ointment and in about 4 days he'll be perfect. I just got a giant 20 gallon long tank ( awesome compared to the measly 10 gallon I had to have him in before) and will post pics sometime this week.

Good to hear that Gizmo is on the road to recovery from his eye infections!

Best to stick with Rep-Cal's Herptivite with beta carotene for vitamins, especially if you already have Rep-Cal's phosphorous-free calcium with D3. Who is eating the romaine and carrots? The crickets? Never heard of a leopard gecko eating romaine lettuce or carrots.

The vet said that he probably won't eat them but if he does it's fine. I put a tiny piece in front of him and he sniffed it licked it and walked away. I've been feeding the carrots he isn't eating to the mealies and am going to petsmart hopefully tomarrow to get some crickets, mabey a few waxworms(as a treat) and am going to get some of the vitamin stuff. ( i already have the pure calcium in his tank in a bottlecap)

I'm guessing he said give the feeders the vegetables and that the right vegetables are carrots and romaine. also that he needs reptivite to get him those vitamins. ( i was honestky kinda zoned out just being happy that he was fine):blushing: but can Leos eat vegetables? i mean they wont hurt them will they?

Herptivite is a vitamin supplement which contains beta carotene as part of the vitamin A. My geckos prefer (;-)) the Herptivite. Before you buy Reptivite, compare the ingredients to Herptivite. Best to stick with the same brand vitamins as the brand of calcium with D3!

Your leopard gecko Gizmo will NOT eat carrots or romaine lettuce! I hope the vet really said to feed those to the crickets. Another great leafy green to feed the crickets is COLLARD GREENS...excellent high calcium to low phosphorous ratio. Leafy greens provide not only vitamins. They are a source of moisture.

Yeah, the only thing is that he won't hunt for himself. i had to hand feed him for quite a while and i wish i could watch him hunt like he used to. i want to give him crickets because he used to chase them around, but now he won't even chase a mealworm. My mom thinks his eyes might be damaged from all the issues. but he doesn't run into anything. it's just the only way he'll eat is if i put it in his face and then he'll lunge for them.
