My name is sydney, my user name is gymcie because thats what im naming my leopard gecko. I havent gotten him yet, but i will this week! I am so extremely anxious. Does anyone have advice for a newbie gecko owner? I am not sure yet which is better for a heat source, a red light or heat pad. What does everyone else use and why? My room in my house lost all of the installation from a hurricane, so it tends to be the hottest in the summer and the coldest in the winter. Does that help in determining which i should use? And is there an advantage to using paper towels over newspaper for babies? I will be getting a male thats about 3 inches long. Thanks everyone! I am very eager to hear what everyone has to say :)

Congratulations on your gecko to come. Heat pads are best because the gecko needs belly heat, but if you can keep the floor temp in the low 90's with the red light that could work too. I think of the 2 choices, paper towel is better because the ink on the newspaper can rub off. I prefer ceramic tile.

Welcome to GU! Glad to have you. Congrats on your gecko to come. There is a care sheet in the leopard gecko subforum that is fantastic! Hope things go well for you and your new buddy.
