Hi GU! I Have a leopard gecko I call him GirGir! He is housed with two females. I don't know what the gender is and I'm trying to find out. Pretty sure it's a male but figured I'd ask you guys. Thx!

This is a pic. He isn't adult yet, well over 5 months I'd say. Just want to be ready if he is male and I house it with females...

I see 2 bumps under vent and a black V over the vent.

THX GU!

I would think it looks like a male and truthfully I wouldn't be housing him with 2 females until he is an adult and of breeding size and only if you plan on breeding and caring for LOTS of babies. Otherwise there could be potential for problems. How old are the 2 females he's housed with?

Probably a male, and in a couple of months he will try to start mating with the females, how big/old are they?? I would separate ASAP

Hi, thanks Saskia! That's what I thought. I don't have lots of money now to be buying another vivarium for him... I couldn't keep track of the age. I'm sure he isn't at maturity age yet.... younger than 10 mos, I'm pretty sure. I'm horrible at measuring them because their skittish- well, he is! He is 32 grams. Maybe 6 1/2 inches? The females are bigger than him.

Thanks CharmedGecko! I also think he is a male and he is like 6 and a half inches long and 32g. The females are maybe an inch bigger than him?

Ok, could you help? I don't think I am properly handling/helping my leos with their health and stuff... I use a wet paper towel for a moist side of the tank. Is that ok? I'm pretty sure I have a male with 2 females and don't know what to do. I know lots about leos, but apparently not enough. Can you help? I really need it... I don't want my first leopard geckos ever to DIE on me... D,:>

For each leo you need 3 hides: warm dry hide, warm moist hide, cool dry hide.

You can easily make moist hides out of opaque plastic containers that food comes in (instructions in caresheet). The wet wrung out paper towels go in the moist hide.

Keep dry paper towels (or porcelain, ceramic, or slate tiles) on the floor of the tank. For a single tank you can get enough tiles to line the floor for less than $15. Some Lowe's Home Improvement stores will even cut the tiles for you.

Do you see the Leopard Gecko Caresheet linked right below in my signature? There is a huge amount of information right there. How about reading that and then asking more questions?

Again, the male really needs separated. He's not an adult, and judging by what you said, the females don't sound like they are either (or at least aren't of breeding size). When he breeds with them and they become gravid, if they aren't of proper size, weight, and health, you could end up with some very sick or dead females on your hands. If you don't feel you can house or care for him properly, then find a rescue in your area that will take him.

You really need to separate the male ASAP. If you don't you will end up with underweight females becoming gravid and possibly having major problems and could even kill them.
It sounds to me like you are in way over your head with these 3 geckos. I agree with Embrace Calamity that if you feel you can't care for these geckos properly then you should find a local rescue.

Thanks! I recently started using Tupperware boxes with moist paper towel inside with an entrance cut in the side for moist hides. I will try to arrange NINE hides in my tank. D: NINE hides...

OK. Thanks. I am trying to get another tank for my male. :) I won't give him up.
You have been being told for two months that your male needs separated. Two months. I know how attached we get to our pets, but the fact of the matter is that we all need to be able to recognise when we just aren't the best things for them. Sometimes they are better off being somewhere else - and there's nothing wrong with that. Part of being a good, mature pet owner is knowing when it's time to let go. Ultimately, it's our job to make sure they get the best care possible, however we have to do that. No matter what. So you need to decide whether you're going to get him his own setup and provide for him what he needs now or find someone else who can. One or the other. As Yoda once said, "Try not. Do, or do not. There is no try."

Be quick about getting a new tank!

Be quick about this: Let your parents know that the PetCo $ per gallon sale is supposed to be over tomorrow, Sat April 27! That means for only $20 you can buy a 20 gallon LONG tank: 30 inches x 12 inches x 12 inches. That is a steal! Your females will be really happy. Then you can keep the male in the current tank.

Hope you see this post in time.

Males can start breeding as young as 8 months old, if yours is close to ten months, then he HAS BEEN TRYING TO MATE with your females for over 2 months now.... plase separate them ASAP, go to Petco and get a 20 gallon for him and even if you can another so you can keep each leo in his/her own tank

Shaking up the food in calcium mixed with a bit of herptivite. <:?

Rep-Cal's Herptivite multivitamin is not recommended very much any longer, because it contains vitamin A in the form of beta carotene. There is some question whether reptiles can metabolize vitamin A provided that way.

Zoo Med's Reptivite with vitamin D3/vitamin A acetate is much preferred. Can you get some of that for your leos?
