HELP!!! Gizmo escaped!

hey guys so i was holding gizmo when i had to go put something away so i put gizmo in a bucket and i came back five mins later and he was gone!:sad: i checked the WHOLE HOUSE! No kidding! i have been searching for TWO hours! i have put a hide heat lamp and food and he still hasn't come out! PLEASE HELP!!!! :cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

There is no real way to lure the gecko out.

Lay out food dishes and heat sources in multiple areas.

Check everywhere that Gizmo could crawl under and/or is dark. Whenever I played with my gecko she used to always try to go somewhere dark. Like under a couch. Gizmo could be anywhere but the best bet is somewhere dark, probably under something.

Also don't give up searching. Geckos can last awhile without food, so if you can't find her today, keep looking. They also may move to a place you already checked, so keep checking everything.

I hope you find your gecko. If you have a dog/cat, watch their behavior, because sometimes they can sniff them out for you. My g/f had a gecko that jumped out of a bucket, she ended up following one of her cats who was scratching the floor outside the closet. So she flipped the closet upside down, and then found the gecko underneath the floor board inside the closet.

Your gecko could be anywhere, check the holes and vents where the gecko could get down or out.

Try leaving out the moist hide in the area where you see the most activity. Use the ones from the enclosure.

Maybe you will get lucky and find Gizmo curled up in the moist hide in the morning ...

i lost mine for about 3 weeks and she was actually just a couple shelves down hidden under a rock that she used to have in her cage i find that they dont really like to go too far a lot of things scare them back to the closest hiding place

Why not try a similar idea to the trap boxes people build for escaped crickets? Get a shoe-box (or similar) and then get a kitchen roll cardboard tube. Put a heat mat underneath to attract your gecko inside and then they should drop in and be there in the morning. If anybody has any ideas for something which is more heat-proof (So less likely to catch fire) and gecko proof so they're less likely to get back out of the box once they're in.

You could try some of the hand warmers (or similar) or a hot water bottle for warmth. It won't be hot for so long, but shouldn't start a fire.

i personally think he is dead.because we haven't found poop for 3 days now, and the poop we found last didn't look normal at all. i even have 2 hides,food,and water out and a heat lamp but no gizmo. :cry:

Don't give up! Even if poor Gizmo has passed away then finding his body will 1. give you closure and 2. remove a decaying body from your house which may cause more problems. You just don't need that right now. I sincerely hope that Gizmo is still alive and that you find him soon. I think you need to have a really good hunt around the house. Maybe start cutting off areas of the house, even at night, so you can perhaps narrow down his location to a room at the very least.
