Laying box

If and when my female gets pregnant would it be better to make the hole on the side of the laying box so she doesnt have to climb her fat little butt on top or does that not really matter much? The way my moist hide is now is the hole is on top. Just curious if this would make it a bit easier or not.

I don't think it really matters. One thing to consider, is that when you take the cover off to get the eggs out, you'll end up spilling all the stuff they've laid into. Also, when they dig, they're likely to kick all the substrate out.

If you put the hole on top you might end up with a smaller mess, because when the hole is on the side they kick the surbtare out, in regards of being more effective, I agree, it probably doesn´t make a big difference
