getting a williamsi

I have experience with cresteds, and I fell in love with geckos. I've been wanting a more advanced, exotic, active display gecko, and I came across this species. I need to know terrarium size, whether or not it needs live plants and uv, and if it can live on phelsuma mrp.
any other tips would be welcome.
Thanks.

The best bet is to google a caresheet and/or read the several Gecko Time articles about them (go to www.geckotime/archives and do a search for "williamsi"). I can tell you that I use a 12x12x18 exo-terra with coco fiber substrate and plants (though I guess you could use artificial plants). I provide a compact florescent light and a halogen puck light for basking and provide the UV through supplementation as opposed to changing the light regularly. I feed CGD and crickets.
I hope to have juvies available in the spring.

I'm going to post a video on uTube of my set up and make a long care sheet. One key though I can mention is if you are putting them in an exoterra, you MUST seal the little openings in the back for the tubing and extension cords even if they are closed. The hatchlings can make it through the openings they are are so small. That is the first thing you should do.
I started a Lygodactylus page on FaceBook
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Lygodactylus/219704574873356?fref=ts
that I hope you and others will join. Hoping to find someone within two hours of St Louis who wants to trade. There is a link there athe top for zwerg geckos/ dwarf geckos and it has the best care sheets I have found, although I would like to add more since I've gone somewhat beyond it.

I have 10+ guaranteed males and 6+ guaranteed females. Have ~30? Hard to count all the hatchlings in the nurseries and the juveniles are impossible to sex until they at least six months old and you realize they're males. I have many more males than females. If you are close to StL I would be glad to drive you one rather than ship it. Give me a ring and anyone please join that facebook page and let us know where you live.

There is also a link on that facebook page to my uTube channel which has many OLD videos of my Lygodactylus, ... I am hoping to post a more recent video soon.
Haven't been to GeckosUnlimited for quite some time and the reason I am is to find someone to trade with rather than simply buy some more wild caught ones. Give me a message if you want one of my males for $50. I'll drive it.

I highly recommend an 18 in cube exoterra at minimum. They're somewhat active and you can put dart frogs at the bottom.

The average time frame is about 6 months, however with some good experience behind you, it is actually possible to sex young williamsi way before 6 months. Some breeders are able to spot the differences as early as 3 months.

There is already an existing and thriving group on Facebook for Lygodactylus - https://www.facebook.com/groups/503812666351140/

Cramming Dart Frogs and L. williamsi in to a 18" Cube is rather poor advice. Lygodactylus williamsi are not very tolerant of High Humidity, so they will not have a very long lifespan if you continue like this. Lygodactylus williamsi is actually a very active species if kept correctly.

I'm sorry if this next bit seems rude, but I cannot think of a better way to say it, but before writing a Care Sheet yourself, I suggest you read up about them some more, as your Husbandry skills and advice need some improving.

I think you will also find you have less males if you follow their TSD Guide. I covered this in quite a few threads on here.

I don'think my husbandry skills need that much improving with the number of hatchlings I have. If anything the humidity isn't high enough for the Dendrobates, buthey have been breeding They don't seem "crammed". Are you saying you disagree with the parameters on the following care sheet?

+++ Lygodactylus williamsi +++

"Tägliches Sprühen des Terrariums erhöht die Luftfeuchtigkeit auf Werte zwischen 70 und 80 %."

Here is the english version.

++ Lygodactylus williamsi ++

"Daily spraying helps maintain the humidity between 70-80%."

My only problem is that I seem to have a 2 to 1 ratio of males to females. I would appreciate the link to the threads you are talking about. I have only enough time to spend a half hour at most searching this site. If even. First egg of this season was laid today or yesterday. I did not really want it yet, since they are in their cool down period. How do I ensure this egg is a female? I want my females to live as long as possible. Have no desire to over breed them, and also wanto get up to ten breeding trios.
