Egg Question

Folks,

I was just wondering if this was OK...............So my female just layed her second clutch of eggs and they are sitting in the nesting box ow and she is still in there with them. I am going to wait for her to leave and go back into her warm hide before removing them.

I currently have her 1st clutch in the incubator at about 81 - 82 degree's and they are doing fine. I was going to add her second clutch with her first clutch but was not sure if that would be a bad idea or not?? I was worried about the temp changes from the nesting box to a container of Hatchrite sitting at 82 degree's.

It is a large container with more than enough room for 8 to 10 eggs but again, my only worry would be adding the new eggs to an already warm substrate as apposed to starting a new tub with "room temp hatchrite" and allowing it to warm in the incubator.

Hope this makes sense............

Thanks

Some people do use a new container for every clutch. If I did that I'd need a lot of incubators. I just keep adding the new eggs and everything is fine.

Thanks for the advice. I did opt to use a new one because the temp of the existing box in the incubator was 82 and the nesting box was at 71. When I poured the hatchrite out into a new container, it was at 70 degree's so I figured it would be best to allow them both to warm up slowly. I am sure by next year I will be a little less paranoid. ;)

I will move that females 2 clutches together in a week or two..............once everything is good and they are warm and so on.

I agree that sudden temp changes are not good for the eggs, 10~ degree change is a bit too much to take at once, when the 2 eggs are accostumed to the incubator temps, you can put them together, however, you can also try to increase the laybox temperatures so, you can put them all together inmediately.
