What supplements does everyone use and how do you use them? I'm just curious as to what people use, not looking for a debate of the best method.

I use Reptivite with D3 once a week and plain calcium carbonate 1-2x a week. Nothing is left in the cage, the meal is lightly dusted.

I'm in between the two choices, just dish, no D3 or yes D3. Still making up my mind and waiting on a book to help me choose... I will vote once I make up my mind. In the meantime thanks for telling me what you do :)

I dust all crickets with Repti-calcium with D3 1-2x a week and use plain Reptivite 2-3x a month. I rely more on a diet of varied and well fed/gutloaded insects:)

Lately, mostly after reading many posts here about the dangers of too much calcium, I've been using Repashy calcium plus (calcium, D3, vitamins) to dust feeders about 1-2 times a week and not leaving any calcium in the cage. Last year, I left calcium without D3 in the cages of the hatchlings only. Originally I wasn't doing it this year but lately I've seen signs of early MBD in 2 of the hatchlings, so I'm back to leaving calcium without D3 in the hatchling enclosures only.

I just wanted to update on what I use which is not what I voted for. (Should have waited)
I use vionate in a dish. I confirmed with Ron Tremper that he does not mix anything in with his vionate.
Vionate is a vitamin supplement containing calcium, vitamin D3, vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin E and a bunch of other vitamins.

Edgar's breeder told me to use vionate as well but I read the ingredients and did not like the fact degermed corn meal was the first ingredient and that it also contained BHT. :?

BHT is a lab made chemical that is added to processed foods as a preservative. There is controversy over it's use and safety. There's no reason for it to be in a vitamin/mineral supplement and there are plenty of options available that do not contain preservatives.

The fact that vionate is for birds worries me. Birds can likely handle the grain product in it because many birds are seed eaters, however for a strict insectivore I question if they even have the ability and enzymes to break down a plant based ingredient. The fact that it is the top ingredient makes me think it has a fair amount in it.

I was told that breeders use it because it's a cheap alternative, not because it's actually really high quality. I'm not knocking you or anyone who uses it, but giving some food for thought. :)

I usually dust all feedings but sometimes I'll leave plain calcium in the tank . That doesn't happen very often though.
