Hi, I'm a little concerned about my leopard geckos eye. It has gone darker in her right eye. It doesn't look too major but I just want to make sure shes okay. I think she is 3-4
Years old now. I have attached a photo of it below. Thanks

Welcome to GU!
It's hard to make out anything from the small picture. I recommend, if you're concerned, you take her to a reptile vet.

Stuck shed in the eyes can be removed. Other eye issues seem to get worse.

A wee bit of vitamin A acetate (retinol) in a multivitamin such as Zoo Med's Reptivite without (or with) vitamin D3 can prevent eye problems.

Please share the supplements you use for your leo.

So do you think its just stuck shedding, how do I take it out?

You have to find it first. Once you see what it is, hold the gecko firmly and use a tweezers with good lighting.

You first shared this 7 1/2 months ago.

I'm not a vet. All I can tell from your photos is that the eye seems cloudy. Just about any eye issue is major. With impaired vision hunting becomes difficult.

Try this:
  • Place your leo in a ventilated plastic box with some layers of paper towel and a little warm water (~30*C), but no more than belly deep.
  • Close the lid.
  • Place this over the heat mat for about one hour.
  • Then try gently flushing that eye with a normal saline solution such as Blink Contact Lens Moistening Solution, NOT the cleaning solution!
  • See whether that loosens anything.
I mention supplements, because vitamin A acetate is important for eye health. If your leo has no vitamin A acetate in her diet, she will be more susceptible to eye problems now and in the future.

What supplements are you using for your leo? Nutrobal multivitamins is available in the UK: Nutrobal for reptiles
