Snowstorm troubles

Right now the northeast is having a huge snowstorm, we already have around 20 inches, and everyone is saying power outages are common with heavy snow. What am I supposed to do with my leopard gecko if the power goes out?!?!?!? I have no idea what I should do if it really does go out. Help?

If you're still able to get to the store, get some heat packs. I know there have been other threads about power outages, and I know people have suggestions about how to set up a temporary heat pack in a gecko's tank.

People, how cold does it get before it's too cold? My daughter priority overnighted our leopard gecko with a heat pack that will last till 8:30 am tomorrow... he was supposed to be delivered today but instead the facility shut down at 1 pm with him inside it... they say they will deliver him by 4:30 pm but I am afraid if his heat pack runs out at 8:30 a.m., he will die if they keep him in the truck... there is no one in the facility right now... I am thinking I could awaken in the morning and call them at 6 am. and tell them to put him in a warm room?? if it's 12 F will he die? How cold is too cold?

There isn't a power outage but I was just wondering for the future, hopefully no power outages will happen until I get more experienced.

If you only have one gecko or so, you could always put the gecko in a deli cup or other small container, and get under the blankets with it. Your body heat will keep it warm (as well as yourself)

Another option you have is to stock up ahead of time with UniHeat packs. Some last as long as 72 hours. The Reptile Supply Company carries them.

Just open the wrapper and shake the pack a little. Then loosely wrap the heat pack in a towel or a cloth or place it in a sock. Place this near your leo's warm dry hide.
