Broken Teeth/Jaw, Mouth Rot??

So tonight when I went to feed my leo Melon she didn’t seem interested and wouldn’t come out of her hide. Usually she’s super eager to eat right off the bat. I figured I’d try again before I head off to bed. Come time to try again, she was fully out sitting on her hide but still had no interest in food. I noticed she had a bump on her lip, and took her out to look. It looks as though she may have broken the teeth and some connection to the jaw, and I know mouth rot can go hand in hand with mouth injuries. Only thing I can think she did was bite down on her food bowl. I usually feed with bamboo tweezers, but the worms I had were too small and she kept missing, so I used the bowl so she can get them better. She was given this the other night.

Ultimately I’m probably taking her to the vet to be safe, but I’d like to hear any opinions from anyone beforehand!
Any help or advise is greatly appreciated.

An exotics vet is your best bet. He/She can sort through the possibilities of MBD or mouth rot. He will also be able to tell for certain whether teeth or jaw have been broken and treat such.

In the meantime, please share exact brands and names of supplements you're using and how frequently you're dusting Melon's bugs and/or worms.

I do plan on taking her regardless to be sure. But she gets calcium with d3 (Repti Calcium by ZooMed) dusted every feeding and a multivitamin (Herptivite) once a week. She eats every other day, so typically just calcium 3 times a week and Multi once. I do not leave calcium on her cage, and like I said she doesn’t typically eat from a bowl, so I dust then tong feed.

So a little update, I called the vet and they are booked and won’t see me till the 10th..
I took a somewhat better pic, I can see that 2 or 3 teeth are broken down to the root and hitting outwards against her lip (She’s also shedding in this pic). She seems in a lot of pain and I don’t know what to do for her till then..

Vitamin D3 is fat soluble. That means it sticks around in a leo's body for about 1 week. The D3 your leo gets @ a single feeding per week metabolizes calcium all week long. I believe that Zoo Med's Reptivite multivitamins without D3 is better than Herptivite, because it contains vitamin A acetate (retinol). The Reptile Supply Company based in Sacramento, California and perhaps Reptile Basics (336-308-5767) stock Zoo Med's Reptivite withOUT D3.

Melon would benefit from this schedule instead. Substitute plain Zoo Med's Repti Calcium or NOW (no D3) for the 2nd calcium dusting per week.

Here's what I suggest -- blue days.

Weekly Schedule 124 for Leopard Geckos 0-12 months old
(withOUT UVB)​

Early stage metabolic bone disease (MBD) problems include uneven (lopsided) gait, bowed limbs, belly dragging, and an underbite.

• Crickets or dubia >> Monday - lightly dusted with Zoo Med's Repti Calcium with D3
• Mealworms >> Tuesday
• Crickets or dubia >> Wednesday - lightly dusted with pure precipitated calcium carbonate withOUT D3 (Zoo Med's Repti Calcium or NOW human brand calcium)
• Crickets or dubia >> Thursday
• Crickets or dubia >> Friday - lightly dusted with Zoo Med's ReptiVite multivitamins withOUT D3
• Mealworms or Black Soldier Fly Larvae (Phoenix worms) >> Saturday
• No food or free choice >> Sunday

I love in a bad area for reptile keeping unfortunately. I called and they said they added a note that I want to be seen sooner but that’s the best they can do. The exotic vet there is booked because of another vet being on maternity leave. Only other vet won’t see me till March because I’m not a patient there, despite me begging saying she’s in pain.

But I do thank you a ton for your help, and I’ll most definitely be switching up her diet!
I’m getting some iodine to dilute and use to keep the area clean until we can get in.

Perhaps Melon will lick dry foods mixed with water like Repashy's Grub Pie, Oxbow's Carnivore Care, or Fluker's Repta+Boost to keep her strength up.

Someone told me that one can buy syringes in Petco's rabbit section.

I ask because my gecko had the same thing today. And because of covid, Its hard to see the vet.
