Male Leopard gecko is squinting/shutting eyes and not eating.

My Leopard gecko is squinting (now shutting eyes completely) and I haven't seen him open them in about a day. When he did open them last, they were still very squinted. He also isn't eating. I have seen him drink water but that's it. What's the main reason why his eyes would stay closed. I've never noticed any discharge or anything in or around his eyes and there's no skin left from a shed so I'm not sure what to do. Please help!

It's hard to know. He looks to be a good size. The main questions are: Is he warm enough (hot side low 90'sF on the floor of the cage)? Is he getting calcium, vitamin D3 and mineral supplements?
Many leopard geckos aren't eating too much because it's winter.

Welcome to Geckos Unlimited!

You've mentioned that Prince Teukki does NOT have a stuck spectacle (transparent eye covering). How bright is his enclosure during the days? An eye infection or eye injury might cause him to keep his eyes shut.

Let's troubleshoot Prince Teukki's supplements. All supplements AREN'T equal. It's important that he's getting a retinol-containing supplement on a regular basis to prevent eye and skin issues. However, you don't want to overdue retinol (vitamin A acetate).

Please list his supplements with exact brand, name, and frequency of use.

  • What dimensions is his enclosure?
  • How many hides are you providing?
  • What do you feed his bugs & worms BEFORE you feed them to Prince Teukki?
