I was cleaning my gecko's tank today. While doing this I keep him in a rectangular plastic food container with holes cut in the lid. I line the container with a pillow case so he's nice and comfy. And then I place it on my bed. It took me about an hour or more to thoroughly clean his tank, and all of the hides and fake plants. I do this major cleaning 4 times a year. He has ceramic tile flooring so it doesn't get that dirty.
Anyway, I finished up and went into the bedroom to grab him out of the container and guess what? He wasn't there. I freaked out! He was missing. I immediately grabbed everything off my bedroom floor and put it on the bed. Then I closed the bedroom door, just in case. I figured he couldn't have gone that far. But I was certain he fell off the bed. I then began to pull things out from under the bed, as I store alot of stuff under it. I was so worried. Turns out one corner of the container wasn't sealed completely and he squirmed right out of one corner of the lid.
I yelled downstairs to get my father to come up and help me hunt for him. I didn't know if he had gotten out of the bedroom or not. Anyway, when I came back into the bedroom, he was crawling out from under the corner of my bed, coming out from underneath the bed skirt. He appears to be okay, but he definitely tumbled off my bed to the carpeted floor, which is padded. It's amazing how dumb geckos are that way. No fear. He's walking fine. Doesn't appear to have hurt any of his legs or anything. I'll be watching him closely over the next day or two. I hope he didn't hurt anything. My poor buddy!
Anybody else ever have anything like this happen?
